Water:
licence to operate
Freshwater is becoming scarce. Companies need to make their operations future-proof and invest in sustainable water management. This brings uncertainty. There is a lot of supply in the market, but it’s difficult to make comparisons and determine which technology is most sustainable and suitable for specific applications. Businesses and communities need to make well-founded choices.

Water Safety
Water processes are very much regulated. Water safety is top priority as it concerns public health. These regulations are formulated based on existing technologies for water treatment. Upcoming, innovative technologies need to be validated first, before large scale implementation is possible . UV is a proven water treatment technology in drinking water applications. But it offers much more opportunity for sustainable water treatment, also in industrial processes.
To realise our shared sustainability ambitions and become future-proof on water, we need a set of technical UV- standards and procedures that implements these standards. We need common principles!

Our common principles
We want to promote our common principles together with UV businesses and equipment manufacturers, industry associations, water treatment professionals and consultancy agencies.
UValue
We believe that UV technology can add value to water in specific segments, upcycling water and reducing Environmental, Water and Energy usage. We use the ‘Value stream model’ for this.
UVQualified
We believe that for an honest comparison, we need to establish common principles for evaluation of UVC treatment systems in water processes and applications. We apply these by sharing best practices and case studies.
UValidation
We believe that we always need to validate findings by testing them, making the outcome comparable with other existing technologies.
UVKnowledge sharing
We believe in honesty and sharing of information. We dispel myths with data and insights. We educate and provide training. We have an open community and give one powerful voice to UV technology by using clear and unambiguous terminology.
Join the UV Community
We find it important that businesses can make a fair comparison, based on common guidelines. We want to tell an honest story about UV technology. We indicate where, how, and when it significantly contributes to realising sustainable water processes. And when not. In this way businesses and organisations can make a well-informed decision on sustainable water treatment technology. The UV Alliance is a community initiative where we share validated case studies and demonstrate how UV technology can add value to specific applications.
